The Cat
Your cat curls up beside you
And you stroke his silky fur
I'd like to be that drowsy cat
Contented to a purr.
I'd sit upon your keyboard
To obstruct your daily cares
And follow you about the house
To tend to your affairs.
I'd meet you at the door at night
And welcome you with mice
In common, daily acts of our
Domestic paradise.
If love is all, then hatred's null.
A place of non-existence.
I wish to move, to love, to be
In this lies my persistence.
And so I woo insistently
To win your heart and hand
Without you, I would cease to be
But with you, I expand.
Beauty is as Beauty does
And though that proverb's true
The very best of Beauty's world
Is what I've found in you.
